Regulating to build consumer trust in phone-paid services
PhonepayPlus is the organisation that regulates products or services - such as competitions,
TV voting, helplines, adult entertainment, downloads, new alerts or interactive games - that are charged
to users' phone bills or pre-pay accounts.
PhonepayPlus has issued its proposed Activity Plan and Budget 2007/8 for consultation. Responses should be submitted to Ann Austin (aaustin@PhonepayPlus.org.uk) by no later than Tuesday 5th December 2006.
Following Ofcom's decision in April for PhonepayPlus to regulate all 0871 numbers, PhonepayPlus has today launched a pre-consultation paper which clearly sets out the need for enhanced consumer understanding about the cost of calling 0871 numbers. PhonepayPlus has also circulated a press release to inform businesses using 0871 numbers.
