All UK-based premium rate services must be advertised on '09' dialling codes.'Adult' (sexually explicit) premium rate services must only be advertised on 0908 or 0909 dialling codes. The fourth number of the 09 dialling code indicates the potential type or cost of the service.
Old premium rate dialling codes (such as 0331, 0660, 0891, 0897 and 0898) are no longer in use.

These numbers are for ‘non-content’ premium rate services. Such numbers may be used to access e-mails or some other value-added telecoms services. Some companies use ‘091’ numbers to provide international call connection.
NB: The codes 0902 and 0903 have not been allocated at present and will be reserved for increased demand or new services.

Premium rate SMS shortcodes are allocated in accordance with the Mobile Shortcode Code of Practice, which is administered by the Mobile Data Association.
