Received a missed call from a number beginning with 094?

PhonepayPlus has recently been receiving queries about these 094 numbers, in particular the number 09432711557.

We regulate UK premium rate numbers beginning with 09, 0871, 0872, 0873 and 118. We also regulate five- and six-digit mobile text shortcode numbers which are used for entering competitions by text, giving to charity via your mobile, downloading mobile games and ringtones, etc.

Although 094 numbers look like UK premium rate numbers, they are actually international numbers based in Sri Lanka. The call is likely to be from a company contacting you to ask to you to complete a survey.

If you receive a call from a 094 number, you will not be charged to receive the call and there is no need to complain to PhonepayPlus.
