The independent appeals body

The IAB comprises of Chairman, His Honour Judge Derek Holden, and up to four members: John Hanlon, Nalini Varma and Ruth Sawtell \nd Judge Derek Holden. An appeal tribunal will usually consist of three members to deal with the appeal. All five are completely independent of PhonepayPlus and it is their role to hear appeals by service providers in the following circumstances:

• against adjudications made by PhonepayPlus, following an oral hearing
• against refusals by PhonepayPlus to grant applications for permission to provide services in cases where permission from PhonepayPlus is required
• against the imposition of conditions as part of the permission granted to a service provider to operate a service.
